Using AI

I consider myself a moderately heavy user of AI. I have subscriptions to ChatGPT, Claude, and whatever magic Dia has under the hood. Questions/conversations fall into a few different areas: Coding – mostly syntax help and some interlanguage conversion, but also to develop skeletons to be fleshed out/rewritten; queries about topics of interest (e.g. what’s the general opinion of Neil Young’s guitar playing); and product reviews and comparisons (e.g. camera X vs camera Y).

To tell you the truth, I can’t tell the difference between the various services. I could just as well swap one for the other at this point. I guess I’m not pushing them hard enough. Also, my expectations are REALLY low.

LLMs are really just massive search capability, pattern matching, and language synthesis. Unless that’s your definition of reasoning, there is no reasoning here.
